		<title>Running Like The Wind</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Well, the Saturday was about as good as I had planned; had a planned cheat 1/2 day with my eating, got in a weight workout and got some work done.  This is hopefully the last working weekend for a long, long time.</p>
<p>Sunday I had planned on getting a lot of yard work done, doing some shopping and going for a run.  It pretty heavily rained until about 1:30, so that got me out of doing the yard work, and at about 2:30 (after a long internal debate), I put on my running shoes, all of my wonderful running gadgets and got my butt outside.  In my training schedule, this was my 4-week-to-go 5K test run, so I was hoping to keep a 5:00 per KM pace to see if I am on pace for a 25 min 5K in September; I was hoping for at least a 25:30 to make sure I was on pace.  I decided to just run what I thought was a decent pace and take a look at my time at the half distance mark (I have this run all mapped out in terms of each KM mark).  At the halfway point, I looked at my time and I&#8217;m at a 4:30 per KM pace.  What the&#8230;?!?!  Feeling somewhat encouraged and very tired I managed to keep going for the 5 KM with a small drop in my pace after the 3KM mark.</p>
<p>I completed my test 5K in 23:00 and, considering that my previous PR was 25:55, I was pretty darn impressed with myself.  Now I just need to be able to do that when it counts!  I&#8217;m thinking I may now aim for a sub-23 5K during my race which will hopefully have me finish in the top half of my age group.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m looking forward to the training the next for weeks and hopefully the hard work will pay off.</p>

		<title>Not a Bad Start, Not a Great Start</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yesterday I began my first Tour of Duty through the 52DC.   Overall, I started the day motivated and was able to keep my eating habits on track; if there&#8217;s one thing I know about myself, it&#8217;s that if I can keep my eating habits on track, everything else is <strike>gravy,</strike> <strike>piece of cake,</strike>&#8230;Are there any sayings that would fit here that don&#8217;t revolve around sodium or sugar laden foods?</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t get my workouts in that I had hoped for, mainly because I was still tired from Tuesday where I had a 3 mile run, a 1 hour session with a trainer (which involved weights and another 2.5 miles of running) and a hockey game.  Yesterday I had hoped to go for a run after work, but I got stuck at work for 2 hours longer than I had hoped and lost all interest in running for the day.</p>
<p>After getting home and spending most of the evening on the couch resting up my legs, I decided that I would go for a run before work today.  Well, as I am on-call at my place of employment, I had a fun evening of fixing problems until about 4:30 am, then got to sleep around 5:00 am, got paged again at 6:30 am, got back to sleep shortly after 7:00 am and got paged yet again at 8:30 am (2 on-call days down, 12 to go).  So today isn&#8217;t panning out as well as I had hoped either.</p>
<p>I did manage to get out for a run around 9:30 this morning and it was a surprisingly good workout considering the lack of sleep.</p>
<p>Hopefully sometime soon I can get a workout in after a good rest&#8230;</p>
